This article is going to walk through the process of using the WYSIWIG (What You See is What You Get) text editor for blog articles and testimonials in the ACP.
Where do I find the WYSIWIG?
The WYSIWIG editor is found when adding (or editing) a blog article or testimonial. It looks like this:
In the above photo the editor is being shown on the Testimonials page. The same editor (the "body" section) is used in the blog article editor.
What is the WYSIWIG used for?
The WYSIWIG is used to edit text for blog articles and testimonials. It lets you format the text to look like a document in Microsoft Word or Google Drive. You can also add links, images, and YouTube videos.
You can format your text in various ways. Below shows some options - different header types, bold text, underlined text, italicized text, text that has been crossed off, and even a link. The buttons along the top ("B", "I", etc.) control these. For some, we have the button show the effect it will have on text so, the B means the text will be bold.
You can highlight text and click the button that looks like a chain to turn that piece of text into a link to another website. In the image below we've highlighted the text "h1 and a link!" - it's formatted to be a Header but when we click the chain button, a box appears on the top-of the page asking us to enter the URL we'd like to link to. Paste the link in (remember to use http:// or https://!) and press "OK" to change that text to a link.
There's a button titled "Insert Image" with a landscape icon next to it, as shown below. Left-click the button to open the image manager.
The image manager, shown below, lets you upload images by left-clicking "+ Upload a new image" in the left-hand corner. Once you've selected the image using your computer's file open prompt, you can click "insert" to add the image. You can also adjust the size using the text fields labeled "width" and "height" (or choosing "small", "medium", or "large") as well as the image's alignment using "align".
To add a YouTube video, find the icon that looks like a TV with a "play" button in it, as shown below:
You will see a prompt appear the top of the page, as shown below. Paste the YouTube URL into the box and press "OK". Note: Shortened URLS will not work here, so URLs like "https://youtu.be/" will NOT work.
If you pasted a valid URL in the prompt, the YouTube video will appear, like below:
There are just a few of the features our WYSIWIG editor offers, feel free to see what the other buttons do and see how they can help your posts shine!
