LinkedIn is a social network for professionals. Think of it like an online resume, whether you're a marketing executive at a major company, a broker-owner who runs a small office or brokerage or even real estate agent looking to explore future career options, LinkedIn is for anybody and everybody who's interested in taking their professional life more seriously by looking for new opportunities to grow their careers and to connect with other professionals.
This article will help you kickstart your Linkedin profile and will help maneuver your account.
Please take a look at the screenshot above, If you are starting out, many of you may have a similar screen.
If you don't have a profile picture, follow the arrow in the screenshot to upload your headshot photo. This will take you to your profile in order to start editing.
Many of you may be taken to a new screen also known as your full profile.
Note the objects
By clicking where the arrow points will allow you to change the profile/headshot.
Your profile is the condensed picture of how the professional world sees you. A great, detailed profile projects someone who is successful, thorough, and connected.
Also look at the circle around the Pencil icon - Create your profile.
Make sure your profile says the thing(s) you want to project.
- LinkedIn's profile wizard will take you through the steps of entering your region, industry, company and current job title.
- You will also be asked whether you are employed, a business owner, looking for work, working independently or a student.
- This information completes your basic profile.
- Once completed click Save.
