Log on to your Zapier account. If you do not have an account please sign up for one (yes, it is a requirement).
Next, CLICK HERE to accept the invitation to sync your eMerge and Zapier account. This needs to be done in order to make Zaps with eMerge.
Time to make a Zap!
Click the orange Make A Zap! button at the top of your Zapier account.
There are at least steps to creating a zap, the Trigger and the Action. You can create additional actions after the first, but this example will focus on a simple 2-step action of adding a new contact to your eMerge account from your Gmail account.
Step 1: The Trigger
First choose a Trigger App from the list of apps provided by Zapier.
Next select a trigger, then click Save + Continue. There will be an option on the following page to test the connection or connect a new account, just click Save + Continue again.
Next select the source of the trigger. In the case of Gmail it will be the email inbox. You will need to verify the source by clicking Fetch & Continue.
There will be a notification letting you know if the test was a success. If so, click Continue.
Step 2: The Action
Next, select the eMerge app from the list of apps provided by Zapier. If it does not show right away, use the search bar and type “eMerge”.
The primary action provided by eMerge is to Create Contact, which will add new contacts to your eMerge account. Select and click Continue.
If your eMerge account is not yet sync’d with Zapier, it will ask you to Connect a New Account. Click this and a window will pop up asking you to enter an API key. Your API key is at the bottom of your settings page. Click the gear on the top-right of eMerge, then on My Account
Once connected click Save + Continue.
Next you will need to set your template. This is basically a road map for the data to follow, where you tell Zapier which information you want added to your eMerge account (i.e. The Email field needs to have the “From Email” selected, so new email addresses that land in your Gmail inbox are added to eMerge). Click the grey “+” button to pick your routes. Please read the description of each field to understand what it does.
Next you may test the action, and click Create & Continue. If test is successful, click Finish.
Lastly you will name your Zap, then click to turn it on.
